Prudentia, fortitude, temperantia, and iustitia: These are the four fundamental virtues passed down from ancient Greece, which have lost none of their original relevance even after thousands of years. They remain important pillars of interpersonal relationships, upon which the second studio album of the rockers from near Munich, The Sonic Brewery, is also based. On "Can’t Kill Rock ‘N‘ Roll," the quartet not only gives the character traits of wisdom, courage, moderation, and justice a completely new relevance, but also brings plenty of fresh vibes to the European rock scene!
With their longplay debut "Catch The Magic," released in March 2019, the quartet, founded in 2017, has already earned a regional reputation as one of the most exciting German newcomer formations, captivating a constantly growing audience with their compelling signature mix of rock ’n‘ roll, blues, psychedelic, stoner, garage, and classic rock, and also receiving enthusiastic reactions while supporting The Blue Stones, DeWolff, and Joanne Shaw Taylor. After a period of relative silence in the Sonic Brewery over the past few months, Benno Olbrich (Vocals, Harp Percussion), Jonathan Niederer (Guitar), Andreas Aigner (Bass), and Thomas Hamberger (Drums) are back today with the first track "Mercury Of Dreams" from their brand new album. The song is a reckoning with conformity, adaptation, and isolation within society. "The song tells of a person living in their own world. Although they seem to be marginalized, they have much ahead of us. They live their dream; something that for many in these times is simply no longer possible, as we are driven by stress and pressure to succeed, rushing from appointment to appointment. We call for more introspection and to prioritize our own needs again," says the band.
On "Can’t Kill Rock‘ N‘ Roll," The Sonic Brewery once again walks their beloved trademark line between groovy-tight riffs and psychedelic passages, leading to brutal sound eruptions, completed by the distinctive vocals of frontman Benno. The Sonic Brewery clearly has its roots in the rock of the seventies, but gives their retro influences a modern and powerful touch.
