BETONTOD have released another track from their new studio album “Zeig Dich!”.
With “Zurück in Schwarz”, BETONTOD are now releasing the second single from the current album “Zeig dich!”. At first listen, it’s a typical, high-quality punk rock anthem that will shake every dance floor in just under three minutes and make relevant radio frequencies tremble.

That a small punk band from Rheinberg would one day tear up the big festivals and stadiums (for example, alongside Die Toten Hosen) sounds like a fairy tale. But BETONTOD have sustainably proven that it’s possible. Quite well, in fact!
Indeed, main songwriter and lyricist Frank Vohwinkel, singer Oliver Meister, guitarist Mario Schmelz, bassist Adam Krosny, and drummer Maik Feldmann have hit one home run after another with albums like “Traum von Freiheit”, “Revolution”, or the recently released “Pace per Sempre” in 2021. And their current work titled “Zeig dich!” fits effortlessly into this category.
With “Zurück in Schwarz”, BETONTOD are now releasing the second single from the current album “Zeig dich!”. At first listen, it’s a typical, high-quality punk rock anthem that will shake every dance floor in just under three minutes and make relevant radio frequencies tremble. And that hookline, friends, that hookline! A dream in black, so to speak, guaranteed playlist material for several generations of punk rockers, a real punk hit that immediately drills into your ear and refuses to leave.
And if you listen closely, you can recognize the references. Because BETONTOD pay homage to their own legacy here, specifically to their third album “Schwarzes Blut”. This album, released back in 2006, significantly helped cement BETONTOD's current status, as Frank Vohwinkel recalls. “At the concerts back then, we first noticed that something was happening with us. More and more people came to our shows, and from then on, it really took off.” And even today, the band is still asked about that time.
“This album is still incredibly popular with many people today, even after over 15 years. So there must be something to it. The question was, why is it so great, what was special about it back then? We searched for that essence.” And apparently, BETONTOD have found exactly that. Just in their own 2023 version!
That’s why “Zurück in Schwarz” exudes plenty of old-school BETONTOD. No frills, straight to the point, served with a hefty portion of punk rock’n’roll, a twisted love song that anyone who has ever lost their heart can relate to, the big feelings indeed. And that’s exactly what it’s about, as Vohwinkel explains. “Sure, we’ve all gotten older and things have changed. For example, we now have our own families. But deep down, we still feel the same. And when we realized that our fans felt the same way, we wanted to somehow thank them for it.” And then he has to smile: “With Betontod in old.”
But honestly: With such a song banger, when, why, and where it comes from is completely irrelevant. Because with “Zurück in Schwarz”, BETONTOD are releasing a future band classic that will secure its place on the live setlist and will not only please BETONTOD fans. Rather, this timeless anthem is a strong contender for one of the coolest German punk songs of the year. Do you like fat guitars and an infectious hook to sing along to? Then you’re exactly right with “Zurück in Schwarz” by BETONTOD. All fists in the air - Punk(t).
