A "deadlock" refers to a situation in which the alternatives of a dilemma block each other. Sometimes it just doesn't move forward – sometimes there is no good ending – sometimes perhaps there doesn't need to be an ending at all. The protagonist of the song narrates between bitterness and resignation to the beat of the machine and the guitar/bass/keys instrumentation, which stays in the background for the sake of the song.
DEBAKEL from Cologne are new and driving, melodic, somewhat wavy, rather dark, and here and there a bit industrial or almost technoid. With synthetic drums that groove quite impressively – and many, really many, special moments in a high-resolution and detailed production. People are also under observation, along with a lyrical processing of their relationships – and their failures. DEBAKEL consists of Thilo (Illegale Farben, Genepool) and Michi (Knigge + Krust, Koeter, Nein Nein Nein) and here they set a first scent mark – more to come!
