Parcels have released a new single titled "Free". It is the first new song from the Australian quintet since their 2018 debut album "Parcels."
The signature Parcels vocal harmonies, a percussively shaped rhythm, and tight funk guitars - the new Parcels song "Free" has everything you could wish for from a new Parcels track. "Free" smoothly combines elements of 70's nostalgia while still sounding contemporary.
"Jules wrote this song one morning during lockdown when we were all scattered across the globe," the Parcels explain. "While the lyrics seemed to deal with the challenges of a long-distance relationship, it also felt like a letter to the rest of the band."
"Free" was written by Jules Crommelin and recorded by the band at La Frette Studios in Paris. Parcels recorded the song live in one day and ultimately chose the first take, which best captured the energy of the piece. The band produced the recording themselves, with the mix done by James Ford. The orchestral arrangements were contributed by Owen Pallett.

Parcels are: Louie Swain (vocals, keys), Patrick Hetherington (vocals, keys, guitar), Noah Hill (vocals, bass), Anatole "Toto" Serret (vocals, drums), Jules Crommelin (vocals, guitar). The band was formed in Byron Bay, Australia in their final year of high school.
After moving to Berlin, Parcels released their debut EP "Clockscared" in 2015. In 2016, Parcels played their first concert at Les Bains in Paris, where Daft Punk's Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo happened to be in the audience. The two bands developed an artistic friendship, leading to much time spent together in the studio to produce the single "Overnight" in 2017. The song followed the EP "Hideout" released by Kitsuné and is notably also the last production work by Daft Punk. In 2018, Parcels then released their self-titled debut LP, which elevated the band to a new level in terms of media and commercial visibility.
The single "Free" by Parcels is now available digitally. The band is currently working on more new songs.
