Wolfgang, better known as Wölli, Rohde has succumbed to his cancer illness. For two years, Wölli fought against the disease, which first affected his kidney and then also his lung.
From 1986, Wölli was the drummer for Die Toten Hosen until he gave up his position to Vom Ritchie in 1999 after several herniated discs. In 2000, he had a serious car accident, narrowly escaping death.
Just last August, Rohde briefly appeared at a concert of Die Toten Hosen, where they played the song "Stand up if you're on the ground" in his honor. Wölli also never wanted to hold back politically. In April 2015, he still attempted, physically very weakened, to confront a Nazi march.
