Matze Rossi belongs to the punk generation that, in their late 30s, finds themselves back where they once were in their early twenties. Wild dreams, a burning heart, at home on stage (for him, it was the almost mystically revered Tagtraum, with whom Matze released five albums from 1993 to 2006). At some point, there was a break, a job, the bourgeois life, family. And years later, the realization that the restless life always catches up with us, no matter where we try to hide from it. For this reason, Matze continues to ask his questions on an album that deals with what it means to be an "adult," even though punk has demanded us to remain "Young till I die."
Actually, Matthias Nürnberger aka Matze Rossi needs at least 30 hours in a day. The singer/songwriter is the father of three children, a yoga teacher, the singer of the punk band Bad Drugs, a label owner, and a lecturer at the Academy for Social Pedagogy. Nevertheless, he always manages to bring everything together. Because there is a fire burning in him, a passion for his music that leaves him no choice. "Ich Fange Feuer" is the title of his now fifth solo album, which sounds so familiar, signifies a new beginning, and yet connects to old times. The twelve songs were recorded in just four days in collaboration with Sven Peks in the autumn of 2015 at the Audiolodge Gaibach - a place where Matze's musical past resides: Here, the groundbreaking albums of Tagtraum were also created, the punk rock band that laid the foundation for the music career of this positive maverick – the circle closes again.
