Steven Matyssek is born on December 20, 1988, in Salzgitter. Early on, people around him realize that this boy is different from the others. As a creative mind, he navigates school and soon makes an impression on the ladies – always connected to one of his superpowers: his unmistakable charm.
His weakness of not being able to sit still transforms by the age of 15, as he channels the energy within him into creative endeavors. He picks up the mic for the first time and enjoys breaking down opponents in battles into their individual parts. "I have always been a musician with the talent of not having to learn an instrument," Sudden humbly states. Blessed with another mega power, his big mouth, he quickly makes a name for himself regionally. Soon, the capital calls, and he records for the first time in Berlin's top studios, even before he reaches adulthood.
While the guild of top 10 rappers of the time argues over who will sign this cheeky guy with the alias Sudden, he makes an acquaintance that will have a lasting impact on his future life: Basti from DNP quickly realizes that they are riding a wave of humor, and they combine their superpowers. DNP and Pimpulsiv are just about to establish the label Trailerpark. Steven is taken with the rough humor and finds in Timi and Basti kindred spirits in the radiance of sarcasm. "Here I am a superhero, here I can be," thinks the young rapper, who has a special fondness for video games alongside music. Sudden is featured on "Hepatitis P" by Pimpulsiv as well as on "Bis eine weint" by DNP. In December 2010, his solo debut "Romantisches Arschloch" is released through Trailerpark. The scene takes notice: "A new, cool release from the Trailerpark house is exactly that – socially awesome" (sic!), writes a portal, for example.
Sudden has arrived at Trailerpark. When Alligatoah joins the label in 2012 and they form the dysfunctional boy band Trailerpark to bring the crew album "Crackstreet Boys 2" to the public, not everyone is laughing along! The crew has long been under scrutiny from feminist antifas. A youth welfare office eventually files an indexing request, which is granted by the BpjM.
Sudden and the other Trailerpark members remain undeterred and continue on their path. A year after the indexing, label and band colleague Alligatoah releases the album of the year and casually dominates the big stages of the country.
Sudden can also perform brilliantly solo, as he proves not least as the tour support for Alligatoah.
The super humor of the label culminates in 2014 on the album "Crackstreet Boys 3". Sudden presents himself on the album as a solid, individual artist who knows how to assert himself alongside the three other members. Whether in the early days in front of a hundred people or in front of a sold-out house: Trailerpark embodies the rockstar lifestyle par excellence.
This lifestyle is conveyed by Sudden at the beginning of 2015 on his solo album "Superpowers", his most complete album to date. As entertaining as ever, the superhero picks up the listener with self-irony, as one knows him, only to reveal entirely new facets of his art. Sudden possesses a power that he has kept hidden until now: self-reflection and no fear of big themes. Sometimes naively but never without a necessary pinch of humility that guarantees control over the chaos, the rapper delves into himself without becoming flat or erratic. Through the confrontation with his kryptonite, the hero of this story becomes complete.
Superpowers is released on March 6, 2015, through Trailerpark/Groove Attack.
