MRS. GREENBIRD: Video for the new single and standing ovations
Charming video for the new single "Everyone's The Same" / Successful kickoff of the "Pre-Listening" unplugged gigs in Hamburg
Last night, MRS. GREENBIRD celebrated a much-acclaimed live premiere of their new songs at the sold-out Hamburg "Nachtasyl". The charming duo successfully kicked off their "Pre-Listening" club gigs, which the audience rewarded with enthusiastic standing ovations at the end.
Mrs. Greenbird is a duo that is evidently continuing their story. A story that had been going on for quite some time before Sarah Nücken and Steffen Brückner captured the hearts of fans by winning the music show "X Factor" and their first album went to #1 on the charts, selling over 100,000 copies. A story that can surely be expected to have many exciting chapters ahead, as one listens to the new album by Mrs. Greenbird. It is called "Postcards" and reaches us from far away, as the two recorded it in Nashville, Tennessee - the place of longing for all fans of traditional US music. This came about as follows: Before the concerts of the tour that was awarded the LEA Award for Best Club Tour in 2013, Mrs. Greenbird played the album of songwriter William Fitzsimmons over the PA system and casually asked the singer to write a song with them. The song never materialized, but they did establish contact with Fitzsimmons' producer Marshall Altman, with whom the duo composed via Skype, and then asked him if he could envision a production with them. To which he replied: "I thought you would never ask!"
A wonderful coincidence, as the sound and vibes they created together in the legendary RCA Studio A not only magically evoke the spirit of Dolly Parton but also fit perfectly together. Sophisticated arrangements that are almost serene, and sparkling, multi-layered songs that make Sarah's voice sound even warmer and deeply refined in combination with Steffen's earthy harmonies. "Postcards" gets to the point: Deep down, Mrs. Greenbird is a pop band that makes clear statements while occasionally being playful and quirky. This is also true for the first single "Everyone's the Same," to which Sarah explains: "We are people who are intolerant of intolerance. Diversity is something wonderful. And yet our basic needs are the same." Steffen adds: "Lyrically, this is not a very complex song; it gets straight to its message and reflects our self-understanding quite well: for individuality and against conformity. But consciously not as a protest song, rather as a cheerful melody."
Their new single "Everyone's the Same" will be released on 24.10.2014, and the new album "Postcards" will come out on November 7.
