This life-affirming nonchalance makes "Dr. Swing", as Gaebel is affectionately called by his fans, his musical motto. A mission he has passionately dedicated himself to since his debut album in 2005. "I just love this grand sound from the time when big songs were recorded in large studios with large ensembles. That's exactly what I always wanted to do!" describes the multiple jazz award winner his musical drive.

And indeed, in line with the motto "The bigger the better", the effort that the man with the exceptional voice has put into his sixth studio album is simply enormous: a fat big band and real strings, along with an easy listening choir that instantly brings a smile to your face. For Gaebel, it's all a matter of honor. This man treats himself to what it takes to provide his fans and those who will soon become fans with an extra dose of musical charm.
Recorded and produced in his own studio, twelve songs come from the pen of the multi-instrumentalist. And they are impressive: The title track "So Good To Be Me" immediately evokes thoughts of a relaxed convertible ride by the sea. The captivating "The Cat" sounds like classic James Bond cinema, while the Latin grooves of "Like A Samba" conjure the lightness of easy listening - Sergio Mendes would be pleased. The only cover version in this wonderfully varied adventure: the Sam Cooke evergreen "Wonderful World", newly and fabulously casually arranged. Absolutely hit-worthy!
Tom has also fulfilled a very personal dream with the song "How I Love You". A musical homage to James Last, the legendary bandleader of the sixties and seventies: "While listening to his old records, I eventually came across "The Volga Boatmen". In this recording, there is a phenomenal brass section that grabbed me so much that I absolutely wanted to play it myself.
So I simply wrote a song around it." Gaebel explains the creation of the piece. "When James Last personally granted me permission for the recording, my joy was of course immense!"
A joy that can be heard throughout the entire album, and that directly transfers to the listener. Thus, Tom Gaebel once again delivers the perfect musical cocktail with a good mood guarantee. True to the album title: "So Good To Be Me".
