From a joke to a serious realization possibility in just a few hours: On Wednesday afternoon, Oliver (Otti) Otto from the now unfortunately homeless Ballroom in Hamburg posted an advertisement on Facebook about the sale of a paddle steamer. He also wrote the following: "Hmm, if 5,800 metal fans donate me 50 euros, I’ll buy the boat and turn it into a Headbangers Ballroom houseboat! It must be possible."
What started as fun is now becoming serious! Now Oliver Otto and his crew are actually looking for enough supporters to make the dream of a floating metal club in Hamburg come true.
And the supporters are there, showing that the Ballroom in Hamburg needs a new harbor; the Facebook page created specifically for this purpose, www.facebook.com/ballroomhamburghafen, has already been liked almost 1000 times in the first two days, and there is even international support for it.
Oliver Otto is overwhelmed by the support, as he has been fighting for a new beginning for his club for years, and the dream of a new location could now become reality: “I can hardly believe what’s happening, it’s absolutely insane – I can only thank everyone who is supporting us here in such large numbers!”
Among the supporters are also various companies, festivals, and scene figures ranging from Wacken Open Air or the largest Swedish heavy festival, Sweden Rock, to bands like Running Wild, Sabaton, Doro, and even Torfrock and Santiano!
In the meantime, Otto and his crew have already gathered basic information from the knowledgeable Hamburg captain Thorsten, who also steers the Ballroom charter trips, and contacted the seller of the boat; however, they are still waiting for further information and a viewing appointment from the latter.
Anyone who wants to support this or can even imagine providing their future favorite metal bar with 50 EUR in start-up financing can already like the Facebook page and thus become part of the next chapter of the Ballroom Hamburg story.
