The last studio album by the Lower Saxony band WOLFS MOON, "Unholy Darkness" from 2008, was released through our then-small underground label. In the meantime, many have surely wondered what has become of the formation founded in 1992...
Five years and a change of vocalist later, the quartet finally has a new album ready. "Curse The Cult Of Chaos" also offers twelve songs of dark, often groovy power metal with subtle thrash elements that will excite any fan of bands like Iced Earth. The mostly rough, sometimes growled vocals of the new frontman Robert Rogge give the band a certain uniqueness, but the rest of the band certainly does not sound like a copy of big names. For many, the highlight of the album will surely be the rocking, very melodically sung tribute song "Undying Legends," which skillfully mentions several metal legends who passed away far too early, such as Ronnie James Dio and Dimebag Darrell, with various song quotes. However, the catchy, earworm-heavy title track "Apocalyptomania," which features a German verse, and the heavy groover "Ultra Rebel" should not go unmentioned, as they also offer well-seasoned material. On top of that, "Curse The Cult Of Chaos" has been given a powerful, contemporary production without sacrificing the soul of the guitar and drum sound or smoothing out the necessary edges.
Traditional power/thrash metal in a contemporary guise: This is what WOLFS MOON perfectly represents with their new album!
