BMG RIGHTS MANAGEMENT RELEASES THE NEW ALBUM BY OMD "ENGLISH ELECTRIC" ON APRIL 5

Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, the British legends of electronic music, sign a worldwide contract with BMG Rights Management to release their new album. "English Electric" will be released in Germany on April 5, 2013.

Written, recorded, produced, and mixed by Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys, "English Electric" consists of 12 songs that deal with themes of technology, the universe, and love. The release marks the return of a band whose hit "Enola Gay" from 1980 once again captivated the global stage at last year's Olympic opening ceremony.

On "English Electric," permeable synthpop meets razor-sharp sophistication, electro ballads, and massive club sounds. The album features the musical dystopia "Please Remain Seated" and "Decimal," which is accompanied by a video directed by German film and graphic designer Henning M. Lederer. Other highlights include "Kissing The Machine," created in collaboration with Kraftwerk member Karl Bartos, and "Metroland," the first single from "English Electric," which will be released on March 22.

McCluskey on the twelfth studio album: "The overarching mood conveys a sense of loss; of melancholy, because things have not developed as one would have wished – neither in terms of technology nor in personal relationships." The title of the successor to "History of Modern" (2010) comes from a British industrial company and perfectly encapsulates the identity of OMD. The original lineup of Andy McCluskey, Paul Humphreys, Malcolm Holmes, and Martin Cooper is celebrating the band's 35th anniversary and will tour Europe and the USA in early April.

OMD have sold 15 million albums and 25 million singles throughout their career. Their last album "History of Modern" reached number 5 on the German album charts and sold 60,000 copies.
