In beauty and danger, silently: The music of the newcomer duo Cate’s Leila breathes melancholy with every note. It invites the listener to reach for the hand of their beloved, aware of each other and the nearby abyss. There, in danger, the view is at its most beautiful. The tour presented by NDR Info and Kulturnews in autumn 2011, which concluded with a sold-out show at the Hamburg Planetarium, is behind Cate’s Leila, and from March 2012 they will be back on tour. Cate Martin and Micha Holland appear on stage fully devoted, focused on the sound, allowing space for the intensity of their melodies. "Especially tinted in minor, it quietly and softly steps forward with bass, guitar, piano, Rhodes, and two-part vocals on the long journey into the deepest interior of loneliness. And just as gently back towards each other," describes the taz. The songs played with the support of the band stand in contrast to this reduction: the quiet excess sometimes escalates into loud determination.
In advance of the upcoming debut album “How the light gets in,” the single “Song For The Homeless” was released in November last year. The tour dates for 2012 can be found at www.catesleila.com. The spring tour 2012 will again be presented by NDR Info and Kulturnews.

Cate’s Leila - The Band
Cate’s Leila consists of two: singer Cate, who studies philosophy and literature & multi-instrumentalist Micha. Cate, the one who cares - Micha, the one who knows.
They met in 2008 at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg. Artistically, there was an immediate spark, and shortly after they were on stage at the Hamburger Markthalle. An evening that resonated with critics and audiences alike. While Micha initially tours with other bands as a professional musician, Cate travels the world as a model, but quits the job to play a solo club tour in her second home, New Zealand. After a trip around the globe, she returns to the Hanseatic city and goes into creative exile with Micha. There, music is created that sensitively describes the inner self while revealing all loneliness.
