BOY „Little Numbers”
BOY - consisting of Valeska Steiner from Zurich and Sonja Glass from Hamburg. The duo has been touring across Germany and Switzerland since last year - by train and car, carrying a purely acoustic EP. And they have been quite successful: Not only is the EP selling like hotcakes at their over 60 concerts, but BOY were also invited to the Eurosonic Festival in Groningen/NL 2011 and were included in Brian Ferry's French promoter and record label's support act in Paris. They wanted to see BOY live, and an offer is now on the table. There is also initial interest from the UK, with a British delegation set to fly in for one of the upcoming BOY concerts.
BOY – a young duo carving out their own musical path. A kind of songwriter pop that sounds touching and playful, drawing its stories from their own lives. Listening to the lyrics, films immediately play in your mind about new beginnings and change: "This is the beginning of anything you want" is how the debut album “Mutual Friends” begins, which will be released in early September.
The music of BOY could easily be described with the following words: It sounds like a mix of the rocking elegance of Phoenix, the quirky musicality of Feist, and the emotional depth of Bon Iver. However, this would overlook the best part: the individuality of BOY and the charisma of the two protagonists.
The single "Little Numbers" was created as the last piece, it is a latecomer. But precisely because everything else was done, and the work became playful - "Little Numbers" possesses this exuberant drive, something untamed and a freshly in-love cheerfulness.
In the summer, BOY will accompany their new label companion Philipp Poisel at some of his concerts and then in the fall, they will go on their own club tour with the band to present their album.
The BOY album “Mutual Friends” will be released on 02.09.11 by Grönland
