Amsterdam-
"By nature, I am actually very athletic. I play tennis, jog regularly, and also enjoy going to the gym to train in Body Combat and Body Pump, among other things. By the way, it’s not as intense as it sounds. I don’t get sore muscles from it anymore; it’s just certain exercises with the corresponding music.
At the beginning of my pregnancy, I continued to exercise, but not for very long. Unfortunately, I carry streptococci. These bacteria cause my pregnancies to always feel very difficult. It’s like carrying a heavy shopping bag on your belly that is about to burst. By the fifth month, I hadn’t gained much weight, yet I felt I should take it easy to minimize the risk of a premature birth, as my first two children were both born two months early. When I found out I was pregnant for the third time, I wanted to avoid this at all costs.
I find it very hard to relax, as I am a very restless person. Therefore, I felt like a prisoner of my own body during each pregnancy. Of course, I was happy when the healthy baby was born and I could return to my usual life. Just three days later, I was back on my bike with the kids to go get ice cream at the other end of our village. The neighbors on our street were surprised: "Weren't you just pregnant?" But I felt great, and a week later I played tennis for the first time again.
During this last pregnancy, I gained 20 kilos and, of course, I want to get back to my original weight as quickly as possible. However, that is not the most important thing. My biggest goal is to be fit enough to stand on stage again quickly. A starvation diet is not for me anyway, and I especially don’t want to be a bad role model for our young female fans. For this reason, I am being advised by a personal trainer. You will learn more about this in the next blog."
