BURNING FIGHT TOUR
featuring:
YOUTH OF TODAY (USA)
SPERMBIRDS (GER)
+ special guests
In May 2009, the book
"BURNING FIGHT: The Nineties Hardcore Revolution in Ethics, Politics,
Spirit and Sound" written by Brian Peterson was published in the USA. The book deals with the history of hardcore in the 80s, but specifically with the movement of the 90s. Backgrounds, band histories, and descriptions of a lifestyle. To celebrate the release of the book, several concerts took place in the USA, which were very well received and attracted fans from all over the world, especially from Europe.
On this occasion, the eponymous tour comes to Europe for the first time in 2010. Kicking things off are the legendary YOUTH OF TODAY, founded in 1985, led by vocalist RAY CAPPO. They took over the legacy of the first straight edge wave from bands like Minor Threat, SSD, and DYS in the late 80s and developed into one of the standout acts. Joining them are John "Porcell" Porcelly on guitar, Sammy Siegler (among others, Rival Schools) on drums, and Ken Olden (Damnation A.D.) on bass.
With SPERMBIRDS, a worthy co-headliner has been secured, even though SxE is certainly not their theme. The quintet led by American singer Lee Hollis started in the early 80s and was one of the first European bands to play hardcore as a faster variant of punk rock. In over 25 years of band history, they have toured across Europe, Australia, and South Africa.
At the beginning of September, coinciding with the upcoming tour, their eighth studio album “A Columbus Feeling” will be released on Rookie Records. Live, the Spermbirds will present a mix of their all-time hits like “My God rides a skateboard” or “Try again” and new songs.
