At the URL http://clipinc.de, there is software that allows you to record songs from the radio. With this, Tobit aims to provide a legal alternative to the illegal downloading of MP3s. Just like in the past when songs were recorded from the radio using a cassette recorder, this should now be possible with a PC, only much more conveniently. The MP3s can then also be burned onto regular audio CDs. While the industry does earn from this, as a fee is charged on every CD-R, since theoretically, copyright-protected works can be copied this way. However, this is not enough for the music industry, and calls are already being made to push for further tightening of copyright laws. Recording from the radio is also to be made punishable. Finally, here is a press release from Tobit.
To have the current hits at home, one previously had to go to the record store. Or, not quite legally, visit a music exchange. With a new free software tool, you can now get current songs completely legally and easily delivered to your home: Tobit ClipInc. is the new system software for the PC that records the ongoing radio program around the clock, allows for title marking, and saves them as MP3 on the hard drive.
"Tobit ClipInc. does nothing other than what we did as kids with the cassette recorder: namely, recording from the radio what we want to hear more often," explains Kirsten Altevogt, Product Marketing at Tobit Software. "While the record industry and music lobbyists are working to shut down exchange platforms and criminalize their users, ClipInc. renders all current discussions absurd. Because ClipInc. does what is as obvious as it is legal: Tobit ClipInc. simply records what is sent to your home and for which you have already paid through GEZ fees.
Tobit ClipInc. records radio broadcasts around the clock and fully automatically. A simple radio or a TV card with a radio tuner is sufficient as a source. With the ClipInc. Player, you can listen to the radio live or time-shifted on your PC. Through so-called "Stream Tags," users can mark songs, news, or other radio sequences at will, allowing them to jump to specific sections at any time. All ClipInc. users can exchange Stream Tags with each other, so that even without setting their own markings, they can access marked broadcasts.
