The police officers who were called on Saturday evening around 8:00 PM to a supposed disturbance of traffic by punks were not bad at all. The officers on site found a group of about 100 punks strolling along the main street in Bochum Langendreer. The attendees were holding Martin lanterns in their hands and singing "Laterne, Laterne, Sonne Mond und Sterne". In response to the officers' questions, some of the somewhat intoxicated Martin singers pointed to their organizer at the front of the procession. Here, the officers identified another punk who could actually present a special use permit for a Martinszug. Apparently, the 35-year-old Bochumer also wanted to portray Saint Martin, as he strutted on a kind of hobby horse, the head of which, according to the officers, resembled a camel more than a horse. Since the group reached private premises after a short distance, where a party was to be held afterward, the police refrained from further measures. There were no incidents. How the peculiar special use permit came about remains unclear.
