After nearly half a century of military dictatorship, Myanmar is slowly opening up to democratic structures. However, life as a nonconformist in this Southeast Asian state still brings its challenges, as filmmakers Alexander Dluzak and Carsten Piefke experienced firsthand when they smuggled themselves into the country to visit a group of punks in the capital, Rangoon, who repeatedly pay for their individual lifestyle with prison sentences. The documentary "Yangon Calling - Punk in Myanmar" will premiere on March 29 at 9:55 PM on ZDF Kultur. To get in the mood, the Spiegel report "Anarchy in Burma" is recommended.
