On the new album, David Rodriguez (vocals), Marc "Meggers" Eggers (drums), Jake Kolatis (guitar), and Doug Wellmon (bass) unleash their anger once again and reinforce their status as one of the longest-lasting and most uncompromising bands in punk.
Additionally, The Casualties share the lyric video for the relentless title track, a scathing hardcore punk salvo full of anger and frustration that suggests blowing everything up and starting over. "This comes from being overwhelmed," says Meggers. "You feel like your head is about to explode – and I think that's how everyone feels these days. You're bombarded day after day with terrible news and social media, and you just feel like you're about to snap."

Politics. Hate. Endless war. These are just a few of the reasons why The Casualties' new album is titled Detonate. Instead of tearing each other apart, The Casualties strike back against authorities and systems that want to divide, using the opportunity to promote unity and camaraderie for all those who feel alienated by the cruel state of the world.
Kolatis adds:
"There are ongoing wars and internal political struggles. Everyone is tearing each other apart. Detonate says: We’ve had enough of this whole division. With this record, we have the chance to say something and promote a kind of solidarity."
Detonate is the second chapter of a new era for The Casualties. As their second album with Rodriguez on vocals, it solidifies the collaboration between the singer, Meggers, and Kolatis. "It's like a new era for the band," says Meggers. "It makes it clear that Dave has come to stay."
As the successor to Written in Blood (2018) and their first album for Hellcat Records – the Epitaph label curated by Tim Armstrong of Rancid – Detonate shows how this new version of The Casualties finally comes together. "We were in the studio for Written in Blood about eight months after I joined," says Rodriguez. "With this new record, we have really grown together. For me, this is the proud moment when we clicked the three Lego pieces together."
By amplifying the punk ethos that The Casualties have stood for since 1990, Detonate is a powerful contribution to the band's rich history as a voice for the voiceless. "I want people to feel empowered when they listen to this record," says Rodriguez. "I want them to feel like they have a voice. I want them to feel like they are among like-minded people when they come to a Casualties show. They can be themselves and not just watch, but be part of the show – screaming with us, jumping off the stage. We want them to feel like they are part of something."
