In Extremo are among the great innovators of contemporary music history: As the first band to combine medieval stylistic elements with modern, hard rock sounds, they created a unique genre that had never been heard before.
In 2025, In Extremo will celebrate their 30th anniversary: To properly celebrate this occasion with their fans, the six musicians will host a large three-day anniversary festival at the Loreley open-air stage from 04. to 06.09.25. Numerous friends and musical companions will enrich the grand birthday party with their performances. In Extremo will headline each evening on all three days.
“We are proud and happy that so many high-profile bands, performers, and musicians have accepted our invitation to spend these special days with us and undoubtedly provide our shared audience with one of the best concert experiences of 2025. This will not happen again anytime soon, and we are already filled with anticipation for this magical weekend together with our fans,” said In Extremo frontman Michael Rhein regarding the announcement of one of the highlights of next year's open-air season.
Even in their third decade since forming, In Extremo are still at the forefront of the Champions League of the international rock scene: With their freshly released 13th album “Wolkenschieber,” they just secured the number 2 spot on the German charts, headlined at Wacken, the largest rock festival in the world, and thrilled tens of thousands again this summer as part of their own concert series “Burgentour.” After celebrated concerts in South America, Spain, the Czech Republic, and Switzerland, they celebrated the finale of the 24 summer in front of 10,000 fans with the sold-out, band-owned In Extremo festival “Weckt die Toten.”
With their captivating signature sound, In Extremo have become one of the most well-known and successful German-speaking bands, captivating a global audience of millions for nearly three turbulent decades. They have awakened the dead. They have been revered and spat upon. They have entered the singer's war as unbridled sinners with their racing hearts. And they followed their compass to the sun after the art theft: After eight albums awarded with precious metals (of which no less than four reached number 1 on the German longplay charts), the tightly-knit performers have come together again to dispel dark thoughts in uncertain times and to bring new courage, hope, and plenty of good cheer with “Wolkenschieber!”
Always at the forefront of their concerts is a thought: that of celebration, sociability, and community. Whether at early medieval market performances or during large arena shows around the globe – a bond that In Extremo has forged closely with their fans near and far over thirty exciting years, and which Michael Rhein, Sebastian Lange, Kay Lutter, André “Dr. Pymonte” Strugala, Marco Zorzytzky, and Florian “Specki T.D.” Speckardt commemorate on their 13th studio album.
In Extremo will set another highlight of their remarkable career, which is not short of highlights, with “30 Years In Extremo - The Anniversary Festival” from 04. to 06.09.2025!
