The twenty-one-year-old singer and songwriter Yu understands polarization as a pillar of his art and an important messenger of progressive messages. With the help of epochal street-fighting metaphors and political communiqués, Yu almost hymn-like proposes to a person he has shockingly fallen in love with, amidst catchy guitar riffs and driving drums.

Born and raised in the small town of Troisdorf near Cologne, Yunus knows as a kindergarten child that he will one day be a musician. Before that happens, life tests him. It gives him an autism and an ADHD diagnosis, pronounced giftedness, and complicated family circumstances. During recess, Yunus is racially insulted because of his Turkish name, and his youth is marked by school changes and therapy sessions. His stress relief? Music.
At the end of 2021, Yu uploads his first own song to Spotify, and six months later, he approaches the Yu project with full energy. It doesn't take long for Yunus's great idol Alligatoah to notice him on his TikTok channel, promptly reach out, and integrate him into the opening act of his "Retour" tour. In May 2023, the track "Unique" goes viral, and a few months later, the single "Moshpit" breaks the million mark. In early 2024, Yunus then tours the stages of various anti-Nazi demonstrations in the (East) German hinterland. With the release of his LGBTQIA+ anthem "Zittern," his fanbase continues to grow – and the number of his monthly listeners on Spotify reaches nearly 450,000.
In the summer of 2024, Yu will play his first solo shows at festivals – following the release of his new album, he will embark on his first own tour in December, leading him to ten cities in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
