"Essentially, the song is about the good, bad, ugly, and sad moments. It's about enduring relationships and friendships even when you're going through tough times. We all just have to fight through the love, lies, and alibis of life." - Raylin Joy
The song was co-written by Joy along with Tim Armstrong (Op Ivy, Rancid), Lil Aaron (Machine Gun Kelly, Demi Lovato, Lizzo), and Albert Hype (Bad Bunny, Kali Uchis).

Supported by musicians Adam Porris (guitar), William "Matty" Taylor (bass), and Clarence "Pocket" Kidd III (drums), singer and songwriter Raylin Joy is the heart of The Calamatix. Born in Ventura, California, Joy spent her childhood in Scotland and returned to the USA at the age of 23. Despite her young years, she has already gathered a wealth of experiences. These experiences and the lessons learned from them shape her lyrics and drive the triumphant songs of The Calamatix, which tell stories of love and life that everyone can relate to.
Originally, Raylin Joy and Tim Armstrong worked together on the songwriting. However, despite the creative chemistry that developed between them, a certain melancholy resonated as Raylin processed her personal struggles and inner demons. The contrast between the optimistic spirit of the songs and the challenges that inspired them gives this collection a special strength and depth.
"When this record was made years ago, I was in one of the toughest phases of my life. I was struggling heavily with depression and honestly had very little to live for. It was really a hard time for me. But then I went into the studio, and we wrote a song. That experience made me incredibly euphoric. This record was for a long time one of the few things that kept me going." - Raylin Joy
The chemistry of the band, which was recorded during an intense series of sessions over two or three days, is clearly palpable in their performances. Under the guidance of Armstrong and producer Albert Hype, the studio became a refuge where each musician could freely channel their emotions into the music. The transformation of darkness and depression into bright, uplifting music is the result of this unfiltered and pure process. Raylin Joy impressively summarizes the album and the creation process:
"At the end of the day, some of the best things come from terrible situations. We had all these adversities and turned them into something really beautiful."
