Lazy Bombs...a piece of Düsseldorf is leaving.
Lazy Bombs, a Düsseldorf punk rock band of a very special kind, is simply dissolving. There aren’t many Düsseldorf bands that place such value on celebrating their shows and entertaining their audience with a captivating performance. And now it’s supposed to be the last time.
However, this "burial" turned out to be anything but a sad farewell for the Düsseldorf punk rock scene.
The Lazy Bombs know how to entertain and managed to make people sweat, pogo, and celebrate on a Good Friday. And they did it really loudly.
The AK 47, the punk rock club in Düsseldorf par excellence, proved to be the perfect host for bands and audience alike. About 160 people filled this club quite well, and since the weather also showed its best side, nothing stood in the way of the evening.
As the first of three bands, the all-female punk rock band Marshmallow Muschis took the stage. While I was familiar with their name, I had not yet had the honor of seeing the three ladies live on stage. They were presented to me with many accolades, but unfortunately, I must say that they did not live up to them. Whether it was because they were the opener or simply due to a few missing rehearsals, their approximately 40-minute set was played rather carelessly, which prompted me to leave this AK47 sauna club. So I preferred to step outside for some fresh air and a cold beer.
I had been looking forward to the second band of the evening for quite some time. Cobra Jim from Düsseldorf, who had already made local clubs unsafe years ago with their name "Rocket25" and their thick, fat sound, were performing as the second band tonight. From the very first note, it was a real highlight. Unembellished thick punk rock with a lot of attention to detail and exactly the right course for the evening. Sweat, beer flowing in streams, and adrenaline was really flowing here by the liter. In short, simply perfect for those who enjoy the sound of "Born to Lose" and the like.
I just have to say that it was a short but very convincing show from this quartet. And it would be very desirable to see Cobra Jim more often...
The grand finale then became a self-runner after the spectacular opening. The place was packed to the last row, making it impossible for me to get to the stage. Every color of the subcultural scene seemed to have united in front of the stage to see one last fireworks display from the Lazy Bombs. Every song was celebrated so much that the term "sauna club" keeps coming to my mind. Loud, dirty, with an incredible joy of playing. One can hardly believe that this is the last time...Ladies and gentlemen, let’s raise the curtain for the Make-up Punx from D-Town, Germany!
Thank you for this wonderful evening!!!!!
